Acting Chief Chuck Savage has announced that Matt McKay will be the new Deputy Chief at Georgetown Fire Department as of Jan. 1. McKay, who was promoted to Lieutenant in 2004 and to Captain in 2019, has been a part of the Standing, Fundraising and Building committees. He also developed the department’s adopt-a-hydrant program, facilitated the new recruitment program, and has worked to support department administration and staffing. “Deputy Chief McKay has an outstanding two-decade career with the Georgetown Fire Department and has made many important contributions to department operations, setting a great example for his fellow firefighters,” Acting Chief Savage said. “I know that he will continue to excel in his new leadership role and I congratulate him on this well-deserved promotion.”
