Firefighters in Maynard responded to two simultaneous gas leaks Saturday morning, less than 48 hours after a deadly house fire that reportedly had a gas-like smell. Maynard Fire Chief Anthony Stowers says the department was notified at 9 a.m. Saturday of a gas-like smell in the area of Thompson Street behind Building 5 of the Mill & Main Place development. Responding firefighters notified Eversource crews about the present odor, and the Eversource crews determined there was gas leaking from a regulator. Eversource then took measures to isolate and repair the leak While responding to the gas leak on Thompson Street, Stowers says the department was called to respond to another report of a gas-like smell on Chandler Street.
