VIDEO: At least two people were taken to area hospitals, one of them with serious injuries, after a pickup truck struck a utility pole Tuesday afternoon at the Milford/Hopkinton line. The crash happened at the town line on Purchase Street in Milford, which becomes South Street in Hopkinton. From Sky5, a gray Chevy Silverado pickup with a cap could be seen with a smashed windshield, heavy damage to the roof and a broken utility pole in the roadway. The downed power lines — which carry about 8,000 volts of electricity — caught fire. The roadway was closed while crews shut off power to the lines and extracted the passengers from the truck. Two men were seen on stretchers being loaded into waiting ambulances. Milford police said the driver of the pickup truck was unconscious when he was transported to an area hospital.
