The First Responders Appreciation Party held at Blueprint New American Bar and Grill on Tuesday attracted fire, police, and other public safety personnel from Ashburnham, Attleboro, Boston, Fitchburg, Gardner, Leominster, Melrose, and Westminster. “It’s great that there’s people in the community that want to support the police and fire departments, especially in the climate we are in right now,” said Westminster Fire Chief Kyle Butterfield. “Westminster and the whole area have always been very supportive of public safety, and we greatly appreciate it.” Town resident Mike Cooley and Blueprint owner Sean McNally co-hosted the soiree as a way to honor first responders. “I come from a long line of firefighters and police in my family and friends. They have a tough job without many ‘thank-you’s,” Cooley said. “I think it’s only right to show appreciation and if we can do it as a community, it’s all that much better.”
