A business in the South College Shopping Center in Lafayette caught fire after work was done on the roof on Wednesday. Officials with the Lafayette Fire Department said a crew did work on the roof of the shopping center, which is located on Johnston Street near Bertrand Drive, on Tuesday, April 16. He added someone later reported seeing smoke billowing up from the area. Crews were seen putting out the small fire around 11:30 p.m. and they remained on scene until after 1 a.m. Firefighters said there was some water damage but it wasn’t significant.
