Vacant Baton Rouge home is a total loss after fire

Firefighters were called to the scene of a blaze around 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday, October 20. “Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire coming through the roof of the vacant house,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department. The scene was a residence on 717 N 36th St. Firefighters immediately went to work putting the fire out with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder. BRPD says, “They made entry and were able to contain the fire before it could spread to the neighboring homes.” The home sustained $30,000 in damages and is considered a total loss. Fire investigators concluded that the vacant home was intentionally set on fire. EMS, BRPD, Entergy assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
