The Hutchinson Fire Department, along with other mutual aid, responded to a house fire that caused other fires Monday afternoon.
According to the HFD, they were dispatched at 4:57 p.m. to the report of a structure fire in the 5400 block of East 4th Ave.
While en route, crews were able to see the smoke coming from the fire due to wind conditions.
“Wind conditions were sustained 28 mph and gusting to 43 mph from the south,” said the HFD.
Upon arrival at the scene, crews found a single-story home fully engulfed by flames.
The wind had pushed the fire to the north, causing two large bushfires, catching a vehicle on fire and two small brush fires.
The HFD requested aid from rural water operations and upgraded the alarm. Other outside departments were requested for water supply.
After 90 minutes of fighting the fire, crews were able to extinguish it.
