VIDEO: A man has died following an overnight house fire in Kansas City, Kansas. Just before 1 a.m., massive flames could be seen shooting through the roof of a residence in the 3100 block of Greely Ave. The fire department told KCTV5 News that the fire was extinguished around 1:30 a.m. They said that six people made it out safely, but one person did not. That person was a man who is believed to have been in his 30s. He was unhoused when the homeowner found him and offered him one of her extra bedrooms in the basement. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. “There was smoke everywhere,” said Victor Tapia, one of their neighbors. “The man was with another man, but all they could do is get the other man out.” “The room was smoky,” he said. “He couldn’t breathe, couldn’t see. They couldn’t get him out.”
