At approximately 9:51 p.m., Reno County Fire Districts 4, 8 and Pretty Prairie Fire were dispatched to the 200 block of N. Broadway St. for a structure fire. When they got there, witnesses told fire crews that there were possibly two people still inside the house.
Firefighters encountered heavy fire involvement with the fire venting through the roof, but made entry into the home. They found the two occupants inside and were able to remove them.
Lifesaving efforts were made, but both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.
Fire crews brought the fire under control around 1 a.m. Crews stayed on the scene for many hours conducting overhaul.
The office of the State Fire Marshal and ATF both responded and investigated. While the fire has been classified as undetermined in nature, it's not considered suspicious.
