VIDEO: The two fires in Reno County, named "Ice" and "Beer" by firefighters are 50% contained, according to Hutchinson Fire Chief Steven Beer.
He says the dry and windy conditions will keep crews out fighting hotspots through the weekend and he is expecting full containment by Monday.
To get to this point, Beer says it was a team effort with help from several state and local agencies. Their quick actions helped them protect houses in the area. According to HFD, only one house was damaged between the two fires.
Beer says the work put in by fire crews amazed him. "I've seen stuff here yesterday that my 34 years of doing this job was pretty amazing to watch some of the things that these men and women performed," he said.
