Gorham Firefighters responded to an RV fire on Interstate 70 east of Gorham early Wednesday afternoon. The fire was extinguished, but the motorhome was a total loss according to Gorham Fire Chief Glen Blundon. The Russell County Sheriff's Office, Kansas Highway Patrol and Russell County EMS also responded. According to the KHP's Trooper Tod Hileman, eastbound I-70 at mile marker 178 was closed temporarily Wednesday due to the fire. There were no injuries. According to Blundon, the fire was caused by a broken transmission line. The RV was hauled to a salvage lot in Bunker Hill and the fire rekindled later Wednesday afternoon, but was extinguished by Bunker Hill Rural Fire District 5 Firefighters according to Russell County Emergency Manager Keith Haberer.
