One person died Sunday after a structure fire in Neosho Rapids. According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, at about 4:45 p.m. Sunday, the Sheriff’s Office, Lyon County District 5 First Responders and the Emporia Fire Department were dispatched to 719 Mulberry Street in Neosho Rapids for a report of a structure fire. “First responders arrived, and the residence was fully involved,” read a written statement from the Sheriff’s Office. “The fire was put out and a victim was located inside, deceased.” The name of the deceased will not be released until proper identification is made. The investigation is ongoing by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
