VIDEO: Trego County Rural Fire Station One was destroyed in a blaze Friday afternoon. Trego County Communications received a call shortly after 2 p.m. for a report of flames coming out of the building. The Wakeeney Fire Department and Trego County Fire Department responded to the fire. Crews were on scene until after 6 p.m. No one was hurt. Firefighters were able to save all four of the station vehicles but officials say the building is a total loss. Western Cooperative Electric Association has offered to provide housing for the fire vehicles and will allow the department use of the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
