The detached garage of a southwest side home was fully engulfed in flames when the Fort Wayne Fire Department (FWFD) arrived Tuesday afternoon.
But in less than 15 minutes, firefighters contained the flames, an FWFD official at the scene told WANE 15.
The fire started around 3:24 p.m. at a property on Getz Road between Illinois Road and Constitution Drive.
An official at the scene said people were inside the home when the fire started nearby, and everyone got out safely.
The FWFD had to shut down Getz Road while battling the blaze so firefighters could access fire hydrants located on the other side of the road.
The garage suffered heavy fire, smoke and water damage, according to the FWFD.
