At around 6:30 a.m. on Monday, units were dispatched to a home on S. Second Street in Ellettsville on a call of a fire. When units arrived, they reported a working fire with smoke and fire visible. The resident of the home reportedly made it out of the home safely, according to the department. Two cats that were in the home did not survive because of the smoke conditions.
