Part of a southwest side house was left charred and smoldering after a fire Wednesday. Fire crews responded to the home on Hadley Road between Illinois and Bass roads Wednesday shortly after 6 P.M. The Allen County Sheriff’s Department issued a mobile push notification warning residents to avoid the area, and several firefighters were spotted at the house on Hadley Road. WANE 15 arrived at the scene and saw the house had significant fire damage to the garage, and light trails of smoke could still be seen coming from the structure. It took crews approximately 25 minutes to extinguish the fire. According to the WCFPD Fire Chief the garage was total loss while the home sustained heavy smoke and heat damage. A WANE 15 viewer also captured photos showing a large cloud of smoke in the sky coming from the house.
