A new, full-time firefighter was sworn in between the conclusion of Monday night’s Batesville Board of Works meeting and the City Council session. 22-year-old Spencer Broughton is a Cedar Grove native and a 2017 graduate of Franklin County High School. He has part-time experience with Batesville Fire & Rescue, where he has served since 2018; Bright Fire & EMS since 2019; and Sunman Rescue 20 since 2017. Broughton was sworn in by Mayor Mike Bettice, and his father pinned his badge on his uniform shirt.
