A portion of State Road 246 near Trueblood Place was shut down Wednesday morning after a car caught on fire. According to Prairieton Fire Department Assistant Chief Bud Bonham, the fire occurred when the tires of a car being towed locked up. The car had a full tank of gas, and the leaking fuel made the fire hard to extinguish, Bonham noted. No one was injured. Firefighters expected the road to be reopened before noon Wednesday.
