VIDEO: After the bridge collapse in Baltimore, emergency responders reacted and worked to help those impacted.
With bridges coming in and out of Quincy, Adams County emergency workers prepare for such situations.
John Simon, the Adams County Ambulance and Emergency Management Chief, said they have an Emergency Operations Plan to implement if a massive disaster strikes the Quincy area.
He said the plan is broad enough so that it can be changed depending on the situation. It’s meant to measure the impact of the disaster, as well as determine how they should respond and what resources are needed.
Simon said they do exercises to prepare for a disaster, such as live-action scenarios and tabletop discussions as well as working on coordination with other departments, such as police, fire, public works, and others.
