The Peoria County coroner hopes dental records will help his office identify a person found dead in a house fire on Monday. Jamie Harwood said an autopsy is being done now, and he hopes dental records from the Department of Defense will allow his office to identify the person. Members of the Peoria Heights Fire Department and the Peoria Fire Department were among those who responded to the fire, which occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on East Lake Avenue. Harwood said a body was found "burned beyond recognition." "We know who we suspected it is, based on our conversation with the family, but we can’t positively identify the person in the condition the body is in. So we are waiting on dental records," he said. Peoria Heights Fire Chief Van Thompson said the fire was limited to the first floor where the person was found.
