Fire Chief Rick Driskell and Police Chief Curt Barker delivered quarterly departmental reports this week to the city council. Driskell said there were 519 calls for service. Though most were emergency medical service calls, there were three structure fires and four vehicle fires. The chief said firefighters completed 830 hours of training, including a rope operations course. He said ropes were used last Friday when a small airplane landed in a tree near Argyle Lake. Barker said he has one new officer at the police academy and three officers on military leave. He said arrests are down by 48 percent, with the most significant being two drug-related robberies.
