Two prescribed fires planned near Idaho City

According to a recent news release, Boise National Forest fire managers expect to conduct two prescribed fires in Idaho City's vicinity from April 30 through May 2. Specific dates will depend on weather and vegetation and are subject to change. These prescribed fires are part of the Forest Service's Wildfire Crisis Strategy to reduce the risk of future catastrophic wildfires to nearby communities and natural resources. Mores South, 173 acres: The first burn will be four miles east of Idaho City along Forest Road 327 (Rabbit Creek Road) and will last one to two days of burning with five to seven days of post-fire monitoring. The burn will impact potential smoke in Idaho City, Highway 21 and the Granite Creek Recreation Site.
