Firefighters rushed to the scene of a 2-alarm house fire in Waipahu Tuesday afternoon.
Crews were dispatched to a home along Kahuawai Street around 3:30 p.m. Once on scene, fire officials say one man was attempting to suppress the flames with a garden hose. He was eventually treated for smoke inhalation.
HFD says everyone made it out safely before the roof of the two-story home collapsed. Several cars and the carport were also destroyed.
In all, 10 people were displaced as a result of the fire. EMS said several people were treated for minor injuries, including a 101-year-old woman. One person was taken to a hospital for further treatment, but is in stable condition.
The American Red Cross is helping the family affected.
An investigation is underway to determine the fire’s cause.
