Wednesday marks the 23rd anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks that killed 2,977 people in separate suicide plane crashes at the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and a rural field in Pennsylvania, making it the deadliest terrorist attack in American history. One of the main local observances of the tragic attacks, the annual September 11 commemoration ceremony at Two Lover’s Point, has been rescheduled to Sept. 20 due to bad weather conditions, according to John Ilao, president of the Rotary Club of Northern Guam, which hosts the yearly Patriot’s Day event. As of Tuesday afternoon, the Guam International Airport Authority said its Air Rescue and Fire Fighting, ARFF, staff are still planning a 5K Walk starting at 7:45 a.m. with six different stops to observe moments of silence, beginning at 8:46 a.m. when the first hijacked plane was purposely flown into the north tower of the World Trade Center.
