From recent promotions to an ongoing paramedic program, KUAM News checks in with the Guam Fire Department.
According to Acting Fire Chief Joey San Nicolas, the morale at the Guam Fire Department is overall really good. "We are very transparent with the challenges that we face, and we constantly do our best to lead from the front by example and show the personnel that we're able to still perform at a high capacity with the limited resources we do have," he said.
Continuing to move forward, GFD has been busy. Its second cohort of the Paramedic Program is currently underway. He says there are about 33 enrolled, which San Nicolas says is amazing considering how difficult and intense the course is.
"They're already a couple of months in, and I know they have completed their second live week, with another live week coming up. And they are set to finish their training along with all their ride-along hours and clinicals to be completed by November," he said.
