A man with a pending family violence case was accused of punching a woman and setting her home on fire, according to a magistrate’s complaint filed in Superior Court.
Robert Atinimwar, 28, also known as Atinimwar Robert, was charged Wednesday with aggravated arson as a second-degree felony, and criminal mischief and family violence as third-degree felonies.
The arson charge carries a special allegation of committing a crime against the community, because the woman’s home is a GHURA unit.
Police were called to the scene of a structure fire and assault in Sinajana at 5 a.m. Tuesday. When officers arrived, firefighters were tending to the woman, who had visible facial injuries, the complaint stated.
One of her eyes was so swollen, she could not open it. There was a cut between her eyebrows, bruising and swelling on her jawline, redness and swelling on her lips and a bruise on her shoulder.
