Learning how to stay ready for any emergency. Public school students are getting a move on learning what they need to be prepared for the unexpected. Caring for our man'amko is the priority for Southern High students Sophia Unpingco and Elton Lobaton. “I actually take care of my 92-year-old grandma at home, so it kind of inspired me to take care of people and also my siblings," Unpingco said. She's a sophomore at the Home of the Dolphins. She along with Lobaton have already found their career passion in geriatric nursing. “What inspired me was—two military flight nurses came to my school and presented their careers, which inspired me to help other people," she said. A motivation that has the pair getting a head start at reaching their goal to become students with GCC’s nursing program. The duo, along with dozens more of their fellow high schoolers, is taking their passion a step further by being ready for any natural disasters.
