Two people were found dead Friday morning in a lake at Guam International Country Club, according to Guam Police Department spokesman Sgt. Paul Tapao.
The two, a male and female, were guests at the club, Tapao said.
The deaths are being classified as drownings, but officials are waiting on a medical examiner to conduct an autopsy to determine an official manner and cause of death, and to determine how long they were in the water, Tapao said
Fire Department and Guam Police Department were on the scene at the course, which is located near residences in Dededo.
The privately operated golf course uses property leased from the CHamoru Land Trust. Guam International Country Club has operated the course since 1989.
It also is referred to as the “municipal” golf course because Guam law defines it as a public utility and it is regulated by the Public Utilities Commission, including its rates and fees.
