Dededo vape shop possibly targeted by arsonist

PHOTO: A scary situation for employees at a Dededo vape shop as the heavy rain and winds hit the island midweek. Surveillance video capturing the moment employees were startled as fire came rushing down into the building. Fire investigators initially thought it was an electrical fire, but the store management discovered it appears it was intentional. Employees at Puff Supply Guam in Dededo were startled Wednesday night. Flames captured in not one but two areas of the shop. “Right on top of our restroom here there is a fire that’s starting and it keeps on going. But this wasn’t the only fire. There was also a fire here in this office," recalled general manager Darian Charfauros. His staff calling him that evening, saying, “They didn’t know what to do but thank God once of our other employees Reymar acted fast and go up there with the fire extinguisher.” His employees understandably frightened.

9/11 remembered at Joint Region Marianas and Naval Base Guam despite tropical depression Bebinca

While the island was focused on Tropical Storm Bebinca, which passed the Marianas as a tropical depression on Wednesday, those who died in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon 23 years ago were remembered and honored by military personnel. Federal fire and emergency services personnel paid tribute with a symbolic stair climb at the Charles King Fitness Center, according to JRM. “The firefighters participated in 15-minute interval shifts beginning at 8:46 a.m., marking the time that Flight 11 crashed into the World Trade Center’s North Tower. Each firefighter carried gear upwards of 40 pounds in honor of the fallen,” JRM said in a post on its website. On Naval Base Guam, personnel from various military commands also participated in the MWR 9/11 Remembrance 5K Run and Ruck event.
