Metro Atlanta flooding sees trapped residents, downed trees

VIDEO: A stormy Tuesday led to some metro Atlanta residents being trapped in their homes and washed-out roads and downed trees. Officials said first responders rescued Cobb County residents trapped in their homes by the flooding. The Cobb County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) said shortly after 7:20 p.m. that there were several flooded homes in a Smyrna neighborhood on Coopers Creek Circle off the East-West Connector. They said some of the residents were trapped in their homes. Firefighters with Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services worked to rescue the trapped residents. Cobb County Fire says a total of 19 residents were displaced, and 15 requested assistance from the American Red Cross. Crews rescued 12 residents using two inflatable rescue boats.
