The LaGrange Fire Department is investigating a fire at a Mexican restaurant on Lafayette Parkway that caused around $5,000 in property damage and $4,000 worth of content loss.
According to officials, Juanito’s Mexican Restaurant is part of a single-story building that houses several shops, but there have been no reports of other businesses being affected. Also, no injuries were reported.
Fire officials said they received reports of a fire at the restaurant the morning of July 22, and when they arrived, they saw heavy black smoke coming from the roof and back of the restaurant, forced their way inside the locked front door, and extinguished the fire.
Officials said that the various fire units helped search the restaurant for people possibly trapped inside and extinguish the flames, and they had the flames under control in just 11 minutes after the first firefighters arrived.
