Officials in Perry are celebrating investment in and hard work by their Fire Department through an improved rating from the Insurance Services Office (ISO.) According to a media release, the city's new rating of Class 3/3x puts them in the top 15 percent nationwide. The ISO evaluates fire departments across the nation to determine how well-equipped they are to respond to and put out fires in their community. The resulting rating is often used in calculating insurance premiums for homeowners. A better rating could save those that live in Perry money on their insurance. “This is a big deal for Perry," Fire Chief Lee Parker tells WGXA News. "With continued support from our Mayor, Council, and the City Manager’s office, the Perry Fire Department can provide quality service to its customers. All members of the department deserve a big thanks for all their hard work. I’m very proud of all of our employees.”
