An Albany house fire on Julia Avenue was put out by crews Thursday night. According to the battalion chief, just before 7 p.m., Engine 5 was leaving the gym when someone smelled smoke. Crews drove around the area and found the home in the 1200 block of Julia Avenue covered in smoke. The battalion chief believes the fire could have spread from the living room to the attic of the home. After putting out the fire, crews checked for hot spots. The battalion chief said no one was home during the fire. He said neighbors told him that the owner lives somewhere else. Firefighters said the blaze started inside the bathroom. Fire officials said the bathroom, a closet and the attic all sustained fire damage, while the entire house sustained smoke damage.
