A Hillsborough County firefighter was taken to a hospital after battling a two-alarm apartment fire on Monday morning. The Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said it was called to an apartment complex on Sandstone Lake Drive in Tampa around 9 a.m. after several people reported smoke and fire coming from a second-floor unit. Crews said they arrived to find heavy smoke and fire from the unit. A commander called a second alarm because they were worried the fire would spread to more units. Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control within 20 minutes and stop its progression. Crews said no one was inside the apartment.
