A woman was arrested for arson after a home caught fire Monday morning on Dora Street. Crystal Beard is facing several charges including trespassing and first-degree arson after allegedly setting fire to a home that had a baby inside, the Fort Myers Fire Department reported. No one was injured from the fire, and all residents were able to make it outside safely. The fire marshal did confirm the cause was suspicious. The fire was contained to a small room where it started, according to fire crews.
The home isn't a total loss, firefighters said. A nearby apartment also received smoke damage due to the flames. The specific cause of the fire is under investigation, FMFD said.
