Workers grinding bolts on a beam accidentally sparked a fire that caused flame and smoke damage Thursday to a home in the Pinewood Lakes development in Gateway. Homeowner Jodi Waldrop said workers were in the lanai area of the Pinewood Lakes Drive home when she started smelling smoke shortly before 11 a.m. "We had some work being done on the outside. I kept smelling smoke," she said. "Then it started filling up in the house." Waldrop called for the fire department as the workers tried to extinguish flames. "It was pretty well involved in the roof when we got here," South Trail assistant fire Chief Gene Rogers said.
