PHOTO: A fire in Torrington Saturday left at least seven people displaced and two firefighters with minor injuries, according to the fire department Sunday.
Firefighters went to Wall Street at around 8:30 p.m. after receiving a report about a structure fire and found heavy smoke with flames showing on the second and third floors of a large multi-family residence, the Torrington Fire Department (TFD) said.
11 firefighters who were on duty at the time began an aggressive attack on the fire while searching for anyone trapped, according to TFD.
A second-alarm was raised to a third-alarm due to the fire's extent, as well as the construction of the building and the weather, bringing in mutual aid from fire departments including Litchfield, Harwinton, Harwinton West Side, Bantam, Drakeville and Torringford, TFD said.
The fire took over two hours to control, according to TFD.
