Two people have died and one is injured after a house fire Wednesday afternoon in Wallingford, according to fire officials. The Wallingford Fire Department Deputy Chief, Sam Wilson, confirmed with News 8 that two people died as a result of the fire. One person was transported to a local hospital and their condition is unknown at this time. Crews were still at the scene, located on Geneva Avenue, at 11 p.m. The fire started on the multi-story home’s second floor. “They accounted that first victim. They quickly transported him to an area hospital and getting inside and encountering that heavy black smoke and the heat and getting through the fire to search for the rest of the victims,” Deputy Chief Wilson said. Multiple families have been displaced. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by local and state fire marshals.
