After 43-years of "selfless and dedicated service to the Milford Fire Department" Fire Chief Douglas Edo announced his retirement on Friday, top officials said.
"Chief Edo's departure and absence will undoubtedly leave us with heavy hearts as we navigate the weeks and months ahead," Fire Commission Chairman Kevin McGrath, Assistant Chief Anthony Fabrizi and Assistant Chief Christopher Waiksnoris wrote in a joint letter. "His strong and steadfast leadership, unwavering dedication to our organization, and countless accomplishments, had made our department amongst the best in the nation. Chief Edo's calm demeanor has always provided our department with much-needed stability and calm in the course of our duty. We wish Chief Edo much happiness, health, and prosperity throughout his retirement."
