Stamford fire crews rescued two semi-unconscious young children from an apartment fire Wednesday at 4 p.m. on Custer Street. They say the children were pulled from the home and onto the front lawn, where they were revived by fire officials. Video taken from a neighbor shows firefighters providing aid to the children, who were pulled from the second floor. Officials say both children appear to be under the age of 5 and were found on the floor inside a bedroom. They say it seems the children were overcome by the smoke and were semi-unconscious when they were pulled out. The deputy fire chief believes the cause of the fire came from a pot on the stove. Fire officials say with the amount of smoke inside the apartment, the fire must have been burning for over 25 minutes.
