A scam claiming to sell Terryville Volunteer Fire Department T-shirts has been reported in the area. Firefighters on Wednesday said they have received reports that some in town have received text messages offering the sale of “Limited Edition” shirts from the fire department. “These are not our shirts and we don’t know who is selling them,” the fire department wrote in a statement Wednesday. This comes after firefighters in November warned that scams like this had been reported in the area, which included in Burlington. At that time, however, it had not yet hit Terryville. The scam that has been seen in the area tends to offer shirts that are purportedly from the town’s respective fire department. According to the Harwinton Volunteer Fire Department, the claim is that they are sold by a company that goes by either “Trendy Tee” or “Gearlaunch.”
