First responders are at the scene of a house fire at 5 Brookwood Drive, according to dispatchers. Fire crews were called to the scene at 7:42 p.m. Thursday. A Newtown dispatcher said crews were still on the scene around 9 p.m., and it was not clear if the fire had been brought under control. An ambulance was called to the scene. Firefighters used a pond off of Dodgingtown Road to supply water for the tankers. A ladder truck was also called in. The town highway was called to handle icing on the roadway. According to public records, the single-story ranch home was built in 1968, and was last sold in 2009. The fire was reportedly put out shortly before 8:30 p.m., and engines began returning to their stations.
