Monroe police, fire and EMS workers respond to an accident involving a dump truck

Police, fire and EMS workers in town responded to a serious accident involving a dump truck Saturday afternoon. According to a post on the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department web site, the department — along with the Stepney Fire Department, multiple EMS units and police — responded to a multi-vehicle accident at Route 111 near Cross Hill Road., with reports of the driver of a dump truck requiring extrication. “Despite the driver being significantly pinned under the dash, using multiple tools firefighters had him removed within 10 minutes of commencing the extrication,” the post read. Upon being rescued, the post read, the driver was conscious and alert and transported by Monroe EMS to an area hospital.
