After more than 50 years, Fremont County Search and Rescue finally has a place to call home. Fremont County earlier this year purchased the facility located at 1901 E. Main St., the former Atmos Energy facility, which now will house FSAR, the Fremont County Wildland Fireteam, Fremont County Office of Emergency Management and the Noxious Weed Department. FSAR’s equipment and apparatus have been stored under a carport in the parking lot of the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and in an 8-foot by 6-foot yard shed. They now will have room to spread out, store equipment in a way that is more accessible and have space for training and team meetings. The Fremont County Department of Public Health and environment will utilize the offices at the Garden Park building that soon will be vacant.
