Crews make 'great progress' on containment of Bridge Fire

VIDEO: After burning more than 54,000 acres, the Bridge Fire in the San Gabriel Canyon is 35% contained Wednesday morning — with progress continuing as two evacuation orders were downgraded to warnings and an evacuation warning was lifted. Officials said Monday evening that utility companies had restored power and water for residents in the Piñon Hills area for their safe return to their homes Firefighters also continued mop-up and patrol to extinguish any remaining hot spots throughout Wrightwood so that residents can return as soon as possible, officials from the Angeles National Forest said. The wildfire erupted just over one week ago, spreading from Los Angeles to San Bernardino County, and destroying 49 structures, damaging 6 others, and resulting in at least two people being injured, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire). The blaze threatened about 11,560 structures.
