VIDEO: Officers with the California Highway Patrol are investigating after the driver of a big rig crashed into the side of a building Monday in Santa Clarita.
Personnel with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to reports of the crash at around 3:15 p.m. at Chi-Chi’s Pizza, located at 27117 N. Sierra Highway.
Aerial footage of the incident captured by Sky5 showed the flatbed semi-truck, which was carrying a load of construction materials, crash into the side of the building where extensive damage to the structure was clearly visible. Details are limited and it’s unclear exactly how the crash unfolded, but Sky5 reporter Gil Leyvas noted the path the driver took off the northbound 14 Freeway, where the truck took out a road sign and narrowly missed crashing directly into the restaurant.
