A small plane that took off from McClellan Park in Sacramento County crashed in Humboldt County, killing at least one person on board, officials said.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the single-engine Cessna 206 crashed near Kneeland Airport around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Two people were inside the plane. Cal Fire said the two people who were on board were employed by Amentum, an aviation company contracted with Cal Fire. Amentum provides, operates and maintains aircraft that Cal Fire uses to fly over fires.
"As a partner, our hearts are broken for aviation," a spokesperson with Cal Fire said. "They provide great resources. We are lucky to partner with them, and we are thinking of their families."
