Neighbors captured videos of an explosion inside a former funeral home in Modesto.
The Franklin & Downs Funeral Home Colonial Chapel had been abandoned for the last 8 years, but opened back in 1865 and has many memories attached to it. Manuel Gonsalez lives right next to the former funeral home. He was washing dishes when he heard a loud boom.
“I thought somebody threw a bomb in there or something because when a place burns up it doesn't look like that, you know. You don't just have a a whole roof cave in, you know," Gonsalez said.
Gonsalez and other neighbors say the explosion was something they will never forget.
Krista Clatterbuck was on her way home when she saw the smoke and immediately started recording.
