San Diego lifeguards rescue girl trapped under sand at Mission Beach

VIDEO: The San Diego Fire Department rescued a girl stuck nearly 7-feet-deep inside the sand in Mission Beach near Belmont Park. First responders arrived at Mission Beach at around 4:50 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon. A crowd of beachgoers watched over San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel as they dug into the sand attempting to rescue the 16-year-old girl stuck underneath. Dozens of first responders worked quickly to help rescue the girl who was stuck beneath the sand. The San Diego Fire Department told CBS 8 that the girl was digging in the sand with friends when she fell into the hole. The girl was pulled out of the hole with the help of San Diego Fire-Rescue lifeguards. Chopper 8 aerials showed the girl walking off of the beach with the help of first responders. It's unknown if the girl sustained any injuries.
