VIDEO: A funeral service was held Wednesday for Selma firefighter and paramedic Chris Nelson who was paralyzed 10 years ago during a training incident. Nelson died earlier this month on Feb. 8 which fell on the tenth anniversary of the incident. Hundreds of family and friends along with firefighters from across the valley gathered at Saint Joseph’s Church in Selma. Fresno Fire Department Captain Jeffery Guynn says he worked with Nelson during his time with the Selma Fire Department in the mid-2000s. “He was always fun, he had funny stories, he was always upbeat, so if we had a rough day and a call in the middle of the night and Chris showed up, he had a smile and it would make all of us smile,” said Guynn. He said even after the accident Nelson never let go of his fun loving spirit.
